Mirziyoyev Signs Decree: Working Mothers to Receive Child-Care Allowance Until Age One
Starting January 1, 2027, Uzbekistan's State Social Insurance Fund will begin paying allowances to women employed under labor contracts.

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree aimed at increasing household incomes through sustainable employment and accelerated development of small businesses. Beginning January 1, 2027, working women with labor contracts will receive child-care allowances from the end of maternity leave until their child reaches one year of age. The State Social Insurance Fund has been tasked with administering the payments, according to the Justice Ministry.
The same decree introduces a multidimensional system for assessing citizens' need for social assistance, effective January 1, 2027. When enrolling families in the Social Register, authorities will consider chronic illness, disability, labor migration abroad, large family status, and other criteria alongside financial circumstances. Family socioeconomic status will be determined using a point-based scale, after which families will be assigned an appropriate category and provided with corresponding types of assistance and services.
