All four hydroelectric generators at Toktogul Hydroelectric Station have been upgraded as part of a comprehensive modernization program: the capacity of each generator has been increased from 300 MW to 360 MW, and the total installed capacity of the station has risen from 1,200 MW to 1,440 MW. This was announced by Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy following Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov's official visit to Jalal-Abad Region.

During the visit, Rysbekov personally inspected the readiness of Toktogul Hydroelectric Station — the republic's largest hydroelectric power plant — for the autumn and winter period of 2026–2027. Following the inspection, regional energy facility leaders were given corresponding directives.

In addition, during the same official visit, the minister familiarized himself with the project to commission the second hydroelectric generator at Kambar-Ata-2 Hydroelectric Station, and also reviewed the construction progress at Kambar-Ata-1 Hydroelectric Station. The implementation of these projects is intended to significantly strengthen Kyrgyzstan's energy security during the upcoming heating season.
