Uzbekistan has reviewed over 4,000 draft regulatory acts in recent years for competition restrictions — anticompetitive provisions were found in 52% of them. This was reported by Khalilulla Turahodjaev, chairman of the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection, in an article published in the newspaper Yangi Uzbekistan.

In addition, 6,700 decisions by state bodies and local khokim offices that restricted competition in markets have been cancelled.

Turahodjaev recalled that since the start of reforms in 2017, competition policy has become a permanent element of the country's economic course. In 2023, a new Law on Competition was adopted: it introduces mechanisms to counter abuse of dominant position and cartel agreements, regulates state aid and economic concentration, and extends requirements to state enterprises and digital platforms.
