Ethiopia Ranks Third Globally in Russian Fertilizer Imports
The country's state procurement company requires 1.2 million tonnes of Russian-made diammonium phosphate annually.

Ethiopia has secured third place among the world's largest importers of Russian fertilizers, Russian Ambassador to the country Evgeny Terekhin announced ahead of the Russia–Africa summit.
According to the diplomat, diammonium phosphate — a nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizer widely used in agriculture — remains the primary item in Ethiopia's imports from Russia. The annual demand of the country's state procurement company for this fertilizer stands at 1.2 million metric tonnes. According to Terekhin, as cited by TASS, domestic producers consistently fulfill contracted volumes, which "has placed Ethiopia in third place among global importers of Russian fertilizers."
The ambassador emphasized that Ethiopia is one of Russia's key agricultural partners on the African continent. According to him, the Russian side is currently "exploring ways to further expand the presence of Russian companies in Ethiopia's agrochemical market," viewing the country as a promising market for domestic agrochemical industry exports.
