The Republican People's Party, Turkey's largest opposition party, has transferred files containing social media content, media reports, and official statements to the parliamentary agenda, a move that raises serious questions about the role of government agencies in judicial investigations.

The files submitted by the party center on Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek and members of his family, as well as statements by Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who is currently detained in connection with judicial investigations. The party based its submission on what it described as 'intelligence memoranda' distributed by a government ministry, noting that these memoranda constitute part of a system of political pressure directed against elected opposition officials.

This parliamentary action highlights the escalating debate in Turkey over the relationship between the executive branch and the judiciary, in a context where legal prosecutions increasingly target mayors elected from the opposition.
