Justice Minister Gürlek: 32,882 suspects arrested in 8 months, 2.54 trillion TL in transaction volume detected

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced the results of drug, illegal gambling, and organized crime operations conducted between February and September 2026. Over the eight-month period, 7,818 operations were organized; legal proceedings were initiated against 70,853 suspects, of which 32,882 were arrested and 15,826 were placed under judicial supervision.

The operations were carried out across 81 provinces through joint coordination by the Republic prosecutors' offices, MIT Directorate, Police, Gendarmerie, MASAK, and Tax Inspection Board. Within the scope of financial investigations, a transaction volume of 2.54 trillion TL, 9.08 billion dollars, and 3.49 million euros was detected.

Gürlek emphasized that criminal organizations faced intervention not only in their activities but also in their financial resources. In previous years, a single Police operation of comparable scope covered only a few weeks; these figures are the product of eight months of continuous judicial-intelligence coordination.
