The Onikişubat District Governorship, following preliminary examination conducted under the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office correspondence and Law No. 4483, approved investigation into school principal C.K., deputy principal F.B., teacher A.T., and guidance counselor E.İ. of Ayser Çalık Middle School on charges of abandonment, failure to report a crime, and abuse of office. Habertürk reported.

In the governorship's decision, it was stated that camera footage showed that principal C.K. and deputy F.B. came to the corridor entrance of the first floor where the attack took place upon hearing gunshots, and quickly exited the building immediately upon witnessing the attack by the child involved in the crime. It was reported that the principal and deputy confirmed the camera footage in their statements.

The decision referenced the obligation to provide a safe environment under Article 6/C of Law No. 7528 on the Teaching Profession, emphasizing that principal C.K. and deputy F.B. held a guarantor position toward students, and therefore their intervention in the attack was a legal obligation. The decision also noted that what was expected was not to confront the armed attack, but rather to take steps to ensure student safety.

In the April 15 attack, eighth-grade student İsa Aras Mersinli, teacher Ayla Kara, and 9 students lost their lives; 15 students were injured. Furkan Mehmet Cinkara, the attorney for those who lost their lives, said he would follow through to the end on all "administrative and legal steps" to prevent similar tragedies from occurring again.
