Forest fire in Marmaris: Response underway with 217 personnel, 7 aircraft and 16 helicopters

Firefighting operations are ongoing for a forest fire that broke out in the Yalancıboğaz coastal locality in the Marmaris district of Muğla. Due to the extremely steep terrain, ground access could not be established, and the response is being conducted primarily through air and sea assets.

Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık announced that response operations began within 10 minutes of the fire alert using aerial assets belonging to the Muğla Forest Regional Directorate. According to figures provided by Akbıyık, a total of 217 personnel, 7 aircraft, 16 helicopters and 82 ground units have been deployed to the site.

Landing craft from the Aksaz Naval Base Command of the Ministry of National Defense also joined the operation, transporting water tankers and firefighting personnel to the fire zone. Road-clearing work is proceeding simultaneously.

Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya and Muğla Forest Regional Director Mustafa Ülküdür conducted on-site inspections. No timeline has been given for when the fire is expected to be brought under control.
