Naples fuel crisis: 95% of stations dry as truck driver strike enters second week
Transport blockades across southern Italy and Sicily have cut supplies; petrol is selling for 4 euros a litre at remaining open stations.

Roughly 95 percent of petrol stations in the Naples area have run out of fuel after more than a week of highway blockades by striking transport operators, TASS reported, citing Italian news agency ANSA.
The disruption has put medical transport services and waste collection at risk. At stations still selling fuel, prices have reached 4 euros per litre — nearly double the average price of just over 2 euros — and the local prosecutor's office has not ruled out that mafia organisations are involved in obstructing deliveries.
Transport operators began blocking highways in southern Italy and on the island of Sicily more than a week ago in protest at high fuel costs.
