Syria Closes Nasib Border Crossing Following Jordan Operation

Syria's General Directorate of Border Crossings and Customs completely halted passenger crossings and commercial movement in both directions at the Nasib Border Crossing, citing the current situation in Daraa province. The directorate stated that the decision was made to ensure the safety of passengers and personnel working at the crossing, and that developments on the ground were being closely monitored.

The closure came immediately after the Jordanian Armed Forces conducted airstrikes in southern Syria. The Jordanian military explained that the operation targeted sites linked to a church attack in Jordan that killed nine people. Syria's Ministry of Health announced that five civilians, including children and women, were killed in the Jordanian strikes on Daraa.

Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement regarding the operation, said: "We have conveyed our full reservations about the conduct of operations inside Syrian territory without prior coordination." The Syrian government also announced that it has launched an investigation.
