Kyrgyzstan Tops Central Asia in Chinese EV Imports
From January to September 2026, the republic imported 21,523 electric passenger vehicles worth $245.9 million — nearly three times more than a year earlier.

Over the first nine months of 2026, China exported 21,523 fully electric passenger vehicles to Kyrgyzstan with a total value of $245.9 million. By the number of vehicles supplied, the republic ranked first among Central Asian countries and ninth among all Asian destinations for Chinese exports. These figures come from analytics platform Aurelian Data Services, based on Chinese customs statistics.
Compared with the same period in 2025, shipment volume grew by 186.4% — nearly 2.9 times. In September 2026 alone, 6,436 electric vehicles worth $76 million arrived from China — 282.6% more than in the same month last year. By its September performance, Kyrgyzstan ranked fourth in Asia, behind Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia.
In monetary terms, Uzbekistan leads: the value of Chinese EV exports to that country reached $281 million.
The surge in shipments coincided with a preferential duty-free import quota. In 2026, Kyrgyzstan received a quota for 25,000 vehicles, and by the end of September it had been fully exhausted. After the quota runs out, a 15% import tariff on the customs value applies to EV imports.
