From January to August 2026, Kyrgyzstan exported 5.66 tonnes of gold for $770.6 million — a 72.5% increase in monetary terms compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Statistical Committee.

Switzerland became the principal buyer, receiving 5.18 tonnes worth $707.6 million, accounting for nearly 92% of the country's total gold exports. The United Kingdom came in second with 485.9 kilograms worth $63 million.

The eight-month figure has already surpassed the entire 2025 result, when foreign sales amounted to $682.9 million. An especially sharp surge was recorded in summer: in July and August alone, roughly $741 million in gold was shipped abroad.

Beyond gold, the republic exports ores and precious metals concentrates: during the same period, supplies to Kazakhstan reached $134.3 million, and to China $105.9 million. To Russia over eight months, land transport vehicles and spare parts worth $79.7 million were sent, as well as clothing worth $57 million. To Uzbekistan, stone coal worth $35.8 million and petroleum products worth $23.4 million were delivered.

Thus, Switzerland became Kyrgyzstan's largest sales market by value for the first eight months of the year — almost exclusively due to gold.
