Kyrgyz wrestler Meerim Zhumanazarova has advanced to the final of the women's wrestling world championship being held in Astana, Kazakhstan, according to the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan.

In the under-68 kg weight category, Zhumanazarova confidently progressed through all stages of the tournament, securing three consecutive victories. In her opening match, she defeated India's Srishti 5:1, pinned American Alexis Blades in the quarterfinals, and defeated Mongolia's Delgermaa Enkhsaikhan in the semifinals — also with a score of 5:1.

In the decisive bout for the gold medal, the Kyrgyz wrestler will face Chinese competitor Jia Long.

Zhumanazarova became the first representative of Kyrgyzstan to advance to the final of this year's championship. Prior to this, the Kyrgyz team has already made its mark at the tournament: Greco-Roman style wrestlers won two bronze medals; however, gold for the country remains unconquered — and Zhumanazarova has the opportunity to bring it home.
