U.S. President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff intends to discuss proposals for settling the conflict in Ukraine with the Russian side within the framework of trilateral and broader multilateral negotiations involving Moscow, Washington, and Kyiv. This was reported by Axios and Israeli Channel 12 correspondent Barak Ravid, citing sources in the U.S. administration.

A source in the American administration stated that the goal is to "lock in the progress achieved with Ukraine and Europe" and to discuss proposals with Russia, charting a path toward direct trilateral and broader multilateral negotiations.

According to the source, U.S. President's son-in-law and Special Envoy Jared Kushner is not personally accompanying Witkoff this time — due to flu — and will participate in consultations remotely.

The day before, on October 20, a meeting took place in Oslo between a Ukrainian delegation led by Volodymyr Zelensky, Witkoff, and representatives of European countries. According to the source, the consultations covered elements of a comprehensive peace framework, including long-term security guarantees for Ukraine, a post-war economic recovery plan, and a "broader European security architecture." The U.S., Ukraine, and Europe, he said, are demonstrating a "high level of working-level alignment." Kyiv "put forward new ideas and proposals that were discussed in detail."

A TASS source confirmed that Witkoff plans to visit Russia on Wednesday.
