The signing took place on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Summit 2026. The Uzbek side was represented by Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Abror Mirzo Olimov, while the Hong Kong side was represented by Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui.
The memorandum provides for institutional cooperation, exchange of experience and expertise, and study of opportunities offered by modern financial infrastructure for precious metals markets. The parties agreed to exchange experience in developing gold markets and related financial infrastructure, study clearing and settlement mechanisms, and expand practical cooperation.
