Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot announced, after approximately 90% of Knesset election votes were counted, that he intends to form what he described as a 'Zionist military government,' affirming that voters have expressed no confidence in Netanyahu's government — which he called the 'October 7 government'.

Eisenkot wrote on X: 'We focus on the heavy responsibility of bringing change to Israel and forming a Zionist military government.' He added that the political bloc composed of those who refuse military service recorded its lowest levels in two decades.

Voter turnout in these elections reached 77.7%, the highest since 1999 according to an announcement by Israel's Central Elections Committee, rising 7.1 percentage points from the 2022 elections.

Eisenkot's statements about 'Zionist militarism' drew wide interpretation suggesting that he will not cooperate with Arab parties, which won 19 seats in the Knesset.

Eisenkot pledged that his party, which he founded one year ago, will play a 'responsible and governance-worthy' role, telling his supporters: 'Thanks to you, we made history.'
