Morocco Forms Coalition Government of Four Parties with 207 Seats
PAM, Istiqlal Party, Socialist Union, and Progress and Socialism Party exceed the 198-seat threshold required for a majority.

Four Moroccan political parties announced they have reached an agreement to form a coalition government, according to a joint statement issued by the Party of Authenticity and Modernity, the Istiqlal Party, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, and the Progress and Socialism Party.
The new coalition comprises 207 seats in the Chamber of Representatives, which has a total of 395 seats, exceeding the minimum threshold for a majority set at 198 seats. The seats are distributed as follows: the Party of Authenticity and Modernity holds 97 seats, Istiqlal 65, the Socialist Union 26, and the Progress and Socialism Party 19.
King Mohammed VI had tasked Fatima Al-Zahra Mansouri, leader of the Party of Authenticity and Modernity, which came first in the September 29 elections, with the mission of forming the government. The joint statement indicated that the government's program will be prepared as soon as possible, and that candidates for ministerial positions will be selected on the basis of competence and integrity.
