An attack carried out by the Houthi faction (Ansar Allah) on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed 13 people, in a strike described by reports as the most sophisticated since the Yemen conflict began.

Reports suggest that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) provided the Houthis with support including training and intelligence guidance, as well as assistance in directing drone and missile strikes. Tehran has neither officially confirmed nor denied these accusations to date — a point that should not be overlooked.

The attacks extended to Saudi energy facilities and oil tankers, adding an economic dimension to strikes that until recently targeted border areas. In September, the Houthis launched a ground offensive during which they seized vast stretches of the Yemeni coast on the Red Sea.

If the accusations leveled at the Revolutionary Guard prove accurate, it would place Saudi Arabia and Iran on a path of direct escalation; Riyadh backs the internationally recognized Yemeni government in confronting the Houthis. However, the reports in circulation are based on media sources and official commentary, not documented official statements — a fundamental distinction in reading the situation.
