The European Union Commission has imposed a €200 million fine on China-based online shopping platform Temu for violating the Digital Services Act (DSA). According to reports carried by TRT Haber and Anadolu Agency, the decision was announced today.
The DSA imposes strict obligations on large digital platforms operating in the EU market in the areas of content moderation, transparency, and consumer protection. Temu has emerged in recent years among the fastest-growing platforms in Europe on the strength of its low-priced products and had drawn the attention of regulatory authorities.
This fine ranks among the highest-value sanctions the EU has applied against Chinese platforms. Temu — which is also widely used by consumers in Turkey — is expected to review its EU operations in the wake of the ruling. The company has not yet made any public statement on the decision.
