CHP Istanbul MP Şenal Karabat disclosed that the vehicles displayed as 'haram' were actually purchased from the party budget and that former Party Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu personally used one of them — the armored car allocated to Aziz İhsan Aktaş. According to a report by Diken, Karabat stated that the vehicles in question were presented as part of a 'symbolic' exhibition, casting doubt on the substance of the allegations.
Sözcü newspaper also reported that following the 'haram' display of the vehicles, the exhibition turned out to be symbolic. ÇYDD issued a statement in support of Kılıçdaroğlu.
The statements reveal that CHP's internal reckoning is ongoing and that disputes from the previous leadership era remain very much alive. Karabat's allegations once again brought the tension between the party's new management and its former cadre into the open.
