CHP Deputy Yazgan Calls Sexual Harassment Allegation a 'Setup', Says He Will Provide Information to Prosecutor

CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan issued a new written statement regarding sexual harassment allegations against him. Yazgan characterized what happened as "a treacherous trap and setup"; he stated that because the investigation is ongoing he cannot provide details, but that he will relay the information in his possession to the prosecutor.

In his previous statement, Yazgan had said: The incident did not occur at his home, but at an address to which he was invited by the woman who filmed the video; he was struck in the head with a hard object and believes he was given a drug.

Yazgan also announced publicly that he will apply for the lifting of his parliamentary immunity—a step that deputies rarely resort to in order to open prosecutions against themselves.

The deputy claimed the trap had two aims: to separate him from the CHP and to direct him toward the New Party. The statement also emphasized that "the CHP must protect the victimized deputy."
