Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced that the Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) tender for offshore wind energy will be held in the first quarter of 2027, with the minister making the announcement directly to Anadolu Agency.
Turkey has not previously launched a tender in this field, making the upcoming auction the country's first official step toward offshore wind. The plan adapts the YEKA model already used for onshore wind, with the explicit goal of drawing domestic turbine and infrastructure industries into the process.
As Turkey moves to double its renewable capacity under its 2035 targets, technical capacity ceilings are coming into view in onshore wind and solar tenders.
