French couple held after boys abandoned blindfolded in Portuguese woodland

A French woman and her French partner have been remanded in custody in Portugal after the woman's children were found abandoned beside a road, Deutsche Welle reported.

The woman is accused of blindfolding her boys and guiding them into a wooded area under the pretence of a game before leaving them there. The children were subsequently found near a roadside.

Both the woman and her partner face criminal charges, according to Deutsche Welle. The report did not disclose the ages of the children or the specific location in Portugal where the incident occurred.

Portuguese authorities are handling the case.
