13,513 people hospitalized on first day of Eid al-Adha

Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu announced that 13,513 people sought treatment at health facilities on the first day of Eid al-Adha due to injuries sustained during animal sacrifice.

According to information reported by Cumhuriyet Newspaper and TRT Haber, the visits were largely caused by knife and tool wounds that occurred during the slaughter.

Minister Memişoğlu noted that this figure represents a recurring pattern each year, calling on citizens to exercise caution during slaughter and to seek help from professional butchers when necessary.

Injuries from animal sacrifice during religious holidays remain an ongoing public health problem in Turkey that has been debated for years. Health Ministry data indicates that this figure shows no decline when compared to previous years.

Memişoğlu's statement represents the highest-level official disclosure of data for the holiday's first day to the public.
