Forest fire in Manisa's Kula district brought under control through aerial and ground operations

A forest fire that broke out in the Kula district of Manisa has been brought under control through simultaneous aerial and ground operations, according to Anadolu Agency reporting.

The start time of the fire and the size of the burned area have not yet been officially announced; detailed information is awaited from the General Directorate of Forestry and the Kula District Governorship. During this period of sustained dry and hot weather conditions in the Aegean region, a major fire also broke out in the Saruhanlı district of Manisa last summer, damaging dozens of hectares.

Kula is located in an important forested belt of the Gediz Basin. It was noted that cooling operations continue at the controlled fire; teams are being kept in the area in preparation for possible re-ignition. It was reported that AFAD and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry teams are on the ground.
