Çanakkale Province Bans Open Fires for 3 Days Starting August 13 Due to Forest Fire Risk

Çanakkale Province, based on fire analyses by the Forest Regional Directorate and meteorological forecast data, has issued a 3-day ban effective Thursday, August 13, across the province. According to the decision, between 12:00-19:00 each day, open fires are strictly prohibited, as are harvesting and baling activities using combine harvesters and baling machines.

The province's rationale is clear: strong winds are expected in the region, and fire risk exceeds the meteorological critical threshold. Given Çanakkale's extensive forest cover and agricultural areas, the ban directly affects both farmers and rural residents.

Last summer, Çanakkale Province imposed similar restrictions during wind warnings for the same hours; this time the scope has been extended longer. The province announced that administrative penalties will be applied to those who violate the ban.
