The Çanakkale Governor's Office, based on fire analyses by the Forest Regional Directorate and meteorological forecast data, has issued a 3-day ban effective Thursday, August 13, across the province. According to the decision, it is strictly forbidden to make open fires in outdoor areas, conduct harvesting and baling activities with combine harvesters and baling machines between 12:00-19:00 each day.
The governor's rationale is clear: severe winds are expected in the region, and fire risk exceeds the meteorologically critical threshold. Given Çanakkale's extensive forest cover and agricultural lands, the ban directly affects both farmers and rural residents.
Last summer, the Çanakkale Governor's Office imposed similar restrictions during wind warnings for the same hours; this time the scope has been extended longer. It was announced that administrative penalties will be applied to those who do not comply with the ban.
