European governments face mounting pressure to act against suspected Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) operatives who retain diplomatic cover in EU member states, according to EurActiv's investigation.

The operatives are accused of operating intelligence and military activities while shielded by diplomatic immunity granted to Iranian military attachés at embassies across Europe. EU member states have not publicly disclosed coordinated responses to the presence of these operatives.

The pressure campaign reflects concern among some European capitals that diplomatic status is being exploited to conduct activities incompatible with EU security interests. No coordinated EU-wide mechanism currently exists to revoke or restrict diplomatic immunity for individuals engaged in unauthorized intelligence operations. The case highlights tensions between respecting diplomatic conventions and protecting European security.
