Gendarmerie conducts drug operations in 28 provinces: 96 detained, 69 arrested

In operations conducted with coordination between the Gendarmerie General Command's Counter-Narcotics Department and Republic Chief Prosecutors' offices in 28 provinces, 96 suspects were detained; 69 of them were arrested and 27 were placed under judicial supervision.

According to figures disclosed by the Interior Ministry, 104 kilograms of narcotics and 294,000 drug pills were seized in the operations. Illegally cultivated 2.2 million cannabis and skunk plants were destroyed.

A total of 7,956 personnel served in 1,326 narcotics and public order units deployed to the field. Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that suspects sold drugs through social media and messaging applications and conducted cannabis cultivation in an organized manner.

In a similar large-scale gendarmerie operation the previous year, 73 people had been arrested; this operation surpassed the previous one in terms of the number of arrests.
