Figure Close to Kılıçdaroğlu: There Will Be No Split in the CHP, Unity Is His Duty

CHP İzmir Deputy Rıfat Turuntay Nalbantoğlu visited Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was 'appointed' as CHP General Chairman following the Court of Cassation's decision on absolute nullity, at his residence. According to reporting by Cumhuriyet newspaper, Nalbantoğlu argued in a statement following the meeting that there would be no division within the party.

Nalbantoğlu said, "Until yesterday, the duty to preserve the party's unity and integrity fell to Özgür Özel; now this duty rests with Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu." The statement came during a period in which General Chairman Özgür Özel's nameplate in parliament was also changed and the party appeared de facto divided into two camps.

The deep tension created by the Court of Cassation ruling within the CHP remains acute on the eve of Eid al-Adha; the divergence between groups clustering around the two leaders continues to solidify.
