Türksat 3A to 6A transition: TV broadcasts moving to new satellite during night of August 15-16

Türksat 3A satellite's broadcasting mission, which it has carried out since 2008, will end during the night of August 15-16, 2026; all television channels are being transferred to the new and higher-capacity satellite.

On televisions with TKGS (Türksat Channel Update System) support, the transition will occur automatically. Users of older-model satellite receivers will need to perform manual network scanning. Two different frequency parameters have been defined for scanning: 12380 MHz / Vertical / 27500 symbol rate or 12423 MHz / Horizontal / 30000 symbol rate.

It is noted that the satellite dish orientation will not need to change; only the receiver settings will need to be updated.

Millions of households in Turkey watch satellite broadcasts; according to satellite industry records, the share of households watching broadcasts via Türksat, particularly in rural areas where cable and IPTV infrastructure is weak, exceeds 60 percent. For this segment, failure to complete the update in a timely manner could result in broadcast loss.
