Search underway for hit-and-run driver who struck motorcyclist in Tatvan; Specialist Sergeant Ahmet Balaban killed

Specialist Sergeant Ahmet Balaban, posted with the Tatvan 10th Commando Brigade Command, died in a traffic accident that occurred on Sunday on Kale Neighborhood Ring Road Street in Tatvan district.

According to information relayed by Anadolu Agency, a car driven by K.Ö. struck the motorcycle operated by Balaban and subsequently hit another vehicle. Following reports from bystanders, police, health, and fire teams were dispatched to the scene. Balaban died in the hospital while the car driver K.Ö. fled the scene of the accident.

Immediately after the crash, a search was launched for driver K.Ö., who fled the scene; no report of an arrest has yet been made.

Tatvan Ring Road Street is one of the main arteries connecting the district center to surrounding villages and had previously been the scene of fatal accidents caused by a mix of heavy-duty vehicles and motorcycles.
