8 Teachers Who Reported Bullying at Amasya High School Reassigned; 3 Receive Reprimand

Teachers in Amasya who filed bullying complaints against their school principal have faced disciplinary sanctions and reassignments. Newspaper, a group of teachers at Amasya High School applied to the provincial education directorate, alleging that school principal Ünzile Karasu had engaged in bullying.

According to information provided by Eğitim-Sen and Eğitim-İş unions, following the investigation, a combined total of eight teachers from both unions were reassigned to schools in district and town centers; three teachers received reprimands. It was noted that Principal Karasu, who was the subject of the complaint, was appointed as principal to a school in Suluova.

Eğitim-Sen Amasya Branch Chair Mustafa Ölgün said, "We do not accept the disciplinary measures and reassignments given on the grounds that they filed a petition." Ölgün emphasized that teachers were being portrayed as the source of the problem and that these practices disrupted workplace peace within the school. The unions also documented in their reports that some schools were forced to conduct education with student numbers nearly double their capacity.
