Egypt's chemical and fertiliser exports climb 34% to $9.54bn in nine months
Fertilisers led the gains at $2.53bn; the EU absorbed 36.4% of total shipments, worth $3.47bn, as the sector adds $2.4bn in revenue year on year.
Egypt's exports of chemical industries and fertilisers reached $9.54bn in the first nine months of 2026, up 34% from $7.14bn in the same period of 2025, the Chemical and Fertilisers Export Council said on Sunday.
The sector generated an additional $2.4bn in export revenues between January and September, reflecting stronger international demand and a broader export base, the council said.
Fertilisers were the largest export category at $2.53bn, followed by petrochemicals at $2.43bn and plastics and polymers at $1.98bn.
The European Union was the top destination, receiving $3.47bn worth of goods — equivalent to 36.4% of total exports. Asian markets excluding Arab countries ranked second at $2.28bn, while Arab countries received $1.74bn, or about 18.2% of the total.
Khaled Abu El-Makarem, chairperson of the council, said the results demonstrated the production capacity and competitiveness of Egypt's chemical and fertiliser industries and their ability to supply products meeting international buyers' requirements.
He said the council would work to open new export markets and support companies through trade missions, international exhibitions and market research, with the next phase focused on increasing the added value of Egyptian products.
