10 Tons of Waste Removed from Apartment in Konak
Konak Municipality teams responded to a report and cleaned up massive waste accumulation that posed a public health threat in an apartment in Kemal Reis Neighborhood.

Konak Municipality sanitation teams arrived at an apartment in Kemal Reis Neighborhood following a report about waste accumulation that was emitting strong odors into the environment. Upon inspection, the apartment was found to have effectively become a garbage dump; the operation resulted in approximately 10 tons of waste being removed from the residence. The amount of waste in question was reported to pose a serious threat to public health and created offensive odor levels in the surrounding area. Municipal teams completed the cleaning operation by carrying the waste, which was assessed to have accumulated over an extended period, out of the apartment. The incident was recorded as an example of the social problem known in the public as a "garbage house" or "hoarding disorder," which occasionally comes to light in different districts across the city. Konak Municipality's intervention in the matter once again brought local governments' supervisory responsibilities in protecting public health to the fore.
