Math Teacher İlhan Algınkaplan Being Searched for at Lake İznik Shore

Yalova Abdülhamithan Middle School math teacher İlhan Algınkaplan left school after the first day of classes; he called his mother at around 11:00 a.m. saying he would go for a drive and has not been heard from since.

A search was launched after his father's vehicle was found abandoned on the shore of Lake İznik. Following the discovery of his mobile phone and clothing on the beach, a report was filed with gendarmerie units.

The Orhangazi District Gendarmerie Command, AFAD, and police underwater search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. Teams have been conducting searches on the lake shore and surrounding area for approximately 12 hours while aerial surveillance with thermal drones continues.

Algınkaplan's father said his son left home without having breakfast in the morning, they could not find him when they went to his house, and they were informed he was near the lake: "We still cannot reach him."

Search operations are continuing uninterrupted throughout the night.
