Samsung Electronics workers have approved a government-backed deal that will make more than 60 percent of the South Korean technology giant's workforce eligible for bonuses of approximately $370,000 each this year, Deutsche Welle reported.
The agreement averts a strike at Samsung, which has been operating amid booming demand for artificial intelligence chips.
The deal was backed by the South Korean government and covers a substantial share of Samsung's total workforce, according to Deutsche Welle.
The bonus figures represent a significant payout for workers at one of the world's largest semiconductor manufacturers at a time when competition in the AI chip market is intensifying.
