Child who fell from escalator at Vefa mall discharged: one month of treatment after severe head trauma

A boy born in 2021 who fell from an escalator on August 11 at the Vefa shopping center in Bishkek has been discharged from the City Children's Clinical Emergency Hospital, according to Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Health.

The child was admitted to the hospital in extremely critical condition, unconscious. Doctors diagnosed a severe traumatic brain injury, skull fractures, brain edema, and an epidural hematoma in the left parietal region. Neurosurgeons performed emergency surgery; one week later the boy regained consciousness.

After one month of treatment and rehabilitation under continuous medical supervision, the child made a full recovery: he walks independently, speaks, plays, and runs.

Before discharge, Health Minister Damir Osmonov personally visited the boy and thanked the doctors for saving his life.
