Two residents of Voronezh Oblast were killed and 17 people were injured, including a child, as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack on the night of October 26, regional Governor Alexander Gusev reported.
According to his data, Voronezh air defense shot down 113 Ukrainian drones, 70 of them directly over the city. Among the killed are two men born in 1960 and 1973.
Two of the 17 injured sustained serious wounds. Gusev clarified that many of the wounded were on a train traveling through the left-bank suburbs of Voronezh when debris from destroyed drones fell on it. Russian Railways (RZD) reported that at least five passengers of the Anapa-Moscow train were injured in the attack and are receiving medical care.
Due to the attack, rail traffic on the Tresvyatskaya—Somovo—Otroshka—Voronezh section has been temporarily halted; repair crews are restoring the tracks. RZD warned of possible delays for trains on the southern route and suburban electric trains.
Gusev reported fires at several industrial facilities, an office building in the city center, a residential building, private homes, a school stadium, and a parking lot. Damage to facades and windows has been recorded in almost all districts of the city.
The Ukrainian side did not provide official comments regarding the overnight attack. Ukraine and Russia present mutually exclusive versions of events in the ongoing armed conflict.
