President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed a decree "On approval of the National program for development and promotion of chess in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2026–2030," according to a statement from the head of state's press office.

The program's goal is to create conditions for chess development and promotion in the country, spread mass forms of chess participation among all segments of the population, including children and youth. Additionally, the document provides for preparation of a sports reserve and increased competitiveness of Kyrgyz chess players on the international stage.

Adoption of the program became a logical continuation of consistent state policy in this sphere. Earlier, on June 3, 2024, Japarov signed a decree "On urgent measures for development and promotion of chess in the Kyrgyz Republic," which officially recognized chess as one of the priority directions of the republic's state social policy.

Thus, the country's authorities are systematically building a regulatory and organizational framework to transform chess into an accessible and mass sport throughout Kyrgyzstan.
