Kyrgyzstan and China Southern Power Grid Sign Energy Cooperation Memorandum

Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy and Chinese state-owned company China Southern Power Grid International signed a memorandum of understanding following negotiations in Bishkek, the ministry announced on August 13, 2026.

The negotiations were conducted by Kyrgyzstan's Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov and China Southern Power Grid International President Zhang Heng. During the meeting, the parties discussed a broad range of potential cooperation areas, including modernization of the republic's energy infrastructure, development and expansion of power grids, implementation of digital technologies in energy system management, and the creation of modern energy storage systems.

According to the signed document, a joint working group will be formed to implement the agreements in practice. Its tasks will include coordinating bilateral cooperation and selecting promising projects ready for technical and investment development.

China Southern Power Grid International is the international division of one of China's largest energy corporations and implements infrastructure projects in a number of Asian countries.
