Kyrgyz Interior Ministry and Russian Police Free Citizen Abducted in Yekaterinburg

A joint special operation by the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry's representative office in Russia and the Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry for Sverdlovsk Oblast resulted in the release of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic who was abducted in Yekaterinburg on August 5. The Kyrgyz Interior Ministry press service reported this.

According to the agency, the victim had approached the representative office independently before the abduction with a statement regarding threats and extortion of a large sum of money. Despite measures taken, unknown individuals nevertheless seized the man and held him in a concealed location, which initially could not be determined.

During operational activities, Kyrgyz and Russian law enforcement jointly identified the hostage's location, after which they conducted an operation to secure his release. As a result of the special operation, two suspects were detained — citizens born in 1993. Russian law enforcement authorities opened a criminal case on the facts of extortion and kidnapping. Investigation is currently ongoing as detectives work to establish the identities of other possible accomplices in the crime.
