Moscow and Kyiv agree to ceasefire in Aleshki from October 29
White House announces agreement: humanitarian aid to enter city, residents able to evacuate to Russia or Ukraine.

Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a ceasefire in Aleshki, Kherson region, starting October 29 — to deliver humanitarian aid and organize evacuation of civilians. This was announced by the White House.
According to the American side, the agreement was brokered by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. The agreement applies to a limited section of the front.
Approximately two thousand people remain in the city, mostly elderly, and roughly 50 children. Representatives from both countries will assess the families' needs and provide transport for those who wish to leave — to Russia or Ukraine. Humanitarian aid will be delivered to Aleshki.
The issue was previously discussed by the presidents of the United States and Russia. Vladimir Putin also discussed the situation in the city with the Pope. The Kremlin supported the Vatican's intention to contribute to the safety of the population and the organization of vital supplies.
Kyiv considers Aleshki to be occupied territory. The city lacks electricity, water, and heat; overland access is hindered by heavy shelling and drone attacks.
