Rospotrebnadzor Suspended Georgian Beverage Imports into Russia
Temporary sanitary measures affected Nabeghlavi, Georgian-produced Coca-Cola, beer, and wines from several major manufacturers.
Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import and sale in Russia of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from a number of Georgian producers, according to RBC citing a document from the agency and sources in the alcohol market.
The temporary sanitary measures affected: Nabeghlavi mineral water produced by Healthy Water, Georgian-bottled Coca-Cola, Georgian Beer Company beer, Teliani Valley, Tbilvino, and Wineman wines, as well as Askaneli Brothers wine and cognac.
The Rospotrebnadzor document states that the measures were introduced due to the products' non-compliance with "established requirements for organoleptic and physicochemical parameters, as well as safety indicators." The document did not specify the duration of the suspension.
RBC also cited representatives from the retail industry and the Association of Omnichannel Retail Companies (AKORT). French retailer Auchan, whose Russian subsidiary recently came under temporary management, was also mentioned among the sources of industry commentary.
