Uzbekistan Sets Target: 500,000 New Jobs in Digital Economy by 2030
Mirziyoyev approved the new benchmark after the previously announced plan for 300,000 IT positions was met ahead of schedule this year.

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved plans to create an additional 500,000 jobs in the digital economy by 2030 — following the early achievement of the previously announced target of 300,000 IT jobs this year.
To reach the new target, an integrated system will be established that combines youth training, professional skills certification, and employment support. By 2030, 5.5 million young people are expected to complete training in both in-person and remote formats.
For schoolchildren, the initiatives "Heirs of Al-Khwarizmi" and "Five Million Leaders of Artificial Intelligence" are set to expand. Mirziyoyev tasked the country with training 1 million young people annually in robotics, computer game development, startup creation, and other in-demand fields. Among the measures are the preparation of national instructors and the accelerated launch of online platforms and short-term courses in digital skills.
As part of university program updates, training for specialists in artificial intelligence, microchip design, unmanned technologies, and computer game development will expand. Universities will also be required to train engineers in embedded systems, microelectronics, and the Internet of Things. Separately, the creation of iOS developer training centers based on Fergana's experience was approved.
To support graduate employment, a "Digital Youth" platform has been established that will aggregate data on users' education, professional skills, language proficiency, and certificates, as well as track employment outcomes. Another priority is attracting international technology companies to develop digital education in the country.
Last year, Uzbekistan attracted 22 million dollars in grant financing for digital education development. The new target is 60 million dollars by the end of this year and 100 million dollars going forward.
