Members of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan presented a report on the possible consequences of Armenia's withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The report includes an analysis of the compatibility of the legal regimes of the EAEU and the EU, an assessment of measures taken by Armenia toward accession to the European Union, and a description of legal mechanisms to prevent risks arising from this decision. The document states that Armenia's fulfillment of EU membership conditions entails a violation of its obligations to the EAEU, and the four states are entitled to consider the question of suspending Armenia's participation in the Union.

The report's authors warn that suspension of membership will entail the restoration of customs control and taxation, as well as a tightening of conditions for labor migration for Armenian citizens. The submission has been sent to the Eurasian Economic Commission for official transmission to the members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council — Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Head of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Leader of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, and President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

Recall that on January 9, 2025, the Armenian government approved a draft law on accession to the European Union. Pashinyan stated that the final decision should be made through a national referendum.
