The 99.31 percent stake held by Özyol Holding and National Bank of Kuwait was transferred to US-based Freedom Holding on July 31.

Turkish Bank A.Ş., founded in 1901, had its 99.31 percent stake transferred to US-headquartered Freedom Holding Corp. The shares held by Özyol Holding A.Ş. and National Bank of Kuwait were transferred as of July 31, 2026.
Following the sale, at a general assembly meeting, the bank's commercial name was changed to Freedom Bank A.Ş. and an application was filed with the Commercial Registry. Vladimir Pochekuev was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors, while Hikmet Cenk Eynehan was appointed as a Board Member and General Manager.
Approvals from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) and the Competition Authority had been obtained on July 1, 2026. With the completion of the transaction, the US-based group has formally entered the Turkish financial sector under the "Freedom Bank" brand.
