The Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command clarified six qualified fraud cases of unknown perpetrators across three districts as a result of cyber patrols and open-source investigations conducted during the week of October 12-18, 2024, in coordination with the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor. According to information, judicial proceedings were initiated against 7 suspects in a total of 6 cases: 2 in Yenimahalle, 3 in Etimesgut, and 1 in Çankaya.

During cyber inspections carried out the same week, 798 social media accounts and URL addresses were scanned. Following the examination, 396 illegal betting sites, 5 sites engaging in phishing-based fraud, and 79 websites containing obscene content were reported to the Cyber Security Directorate and blocked from access.

Sharing weekly cyber patrol reports of this scale by Ankara Gendarmerie with the public is a practice sustained since 2024; however, the number of illegal betting sites shut down in a single week reaching 396 is significantly above previous weekly averages.
