Dutch households face €141 more annually as grid charges rise 19% in 2027
Regulator ACM says fixed network costs — which no consumer can avoid by switching supplier — will make up 28% of the average energy bill next year.

Dutch households will pay an average of €141 more per year for electricity and gas network charges in 2027, a rise of 19%, the consumer and markets regulator ACM said in a preliminary forecast.
The increase covers only the fixed network charges that appear on every energy bill and cannot be reduced by switching supplier. The electricity component of the charge rises by €89 annually and the gas component by €52, adding up to roughly €12 a month. Network charges will account for about 28% of the average household energy bill in 2027.
The rise varies by operator. Liander, which covers Amsterdam, most of Noord-Holland and Gelderland, is raising its electricity tariffs by 23%. Stedin, serving Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht, and Enexis, covering the south and east, are each raising theirs by 17%.
Network operators say they need to invest around €235 billion in the electricity grid over the next 15 years. The increases come on top of gas and electricity commodity prices that have already risen sharply.
