İmamoğlu Completes Third Day of Defense at 100th Hearing in İBB Case

At the 100th hearing in the İBB case being tried in Istanbul, detained Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu completed the third day of his defense. İmamoğlu will continue his defense with his lawyers until October 17.

In the first indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, İmamoğlu was faced with a sentence of between 849 and 2,430 years and 6 months of imprisonment. In the supplementary indictment related to Ağaç A.Ş., İmamoğlu, who was among 29 defendants, was charged with an additional prison sentence of between 62 and 168 years.

The case involves 436 defendants being tried, 53 of them detained. The indictment contains 14 separate charges, including forming and leading a criminal organization, bribery, embezzlement, bid rigging, and damage to public property.

İmamoğlu was detained on March 23, 2024. In the approximately seven months that have passed since that date, the case has reached its 100th hearing; witness examination was completed at the 99th hearing held the previous week.
